At present, BLOs are paid ₹500 per month, which totals ₹6000 per year. As per the new proposal, their monthly honorarium will be increased to ₹1000 and yearly amount to ₹12000. This hike aims to motivate BLOs and help them complete voter list revision work more effectively and on time.
| Current honorarium (per month) | ₹500 |
| Proposed honorarium (per month) | ₹1,000 |
| Current yearly honorarium | ₹6,000 |
| Proposed yearly honorarium | ₹12,000 |
At present, around 1.62 lakh BLOs are working on the SIR process in Uttar Pradesh. With the proposed increase in honorarium, their motivation and morale will rise, helping them complete their work on time and with better quality. District Election Officers are also appreciating BLOs at district level and giving them encouragement incentives.
Special Allowance for SIR Work
Along with increasing honorarium, a proposal has also been prepared to provide a special allowance for BLOs and other officials involved in the SIR work. This amount will be given to them for completing the SIR task successfully and on time. It will be a one-time financial support, and depending on the category, they may receive ₹2000 or more as a special allowance.
Work Progress Speeding Up
The deadline to fill and submit the verification forms has been fixed as 4 December. Because of this, SIR work is being carried out at a faster pace across the state. The CEO office is continuously monitoring the entire process to ensure that all BLOs complete their responsibilities on time.
